Dear Governor Cuomo,
Today is the day of the Democratic Primary and I went to my normal election place to vote for U.S. Representative.
You can imagine my astonishment on learning that because of redistricting, Charlie Rangel is no longer my Representative. Neither I nor my neighbors in this building ever received any official notification of such a change. Not from the Congress, not from New York State, not from New York City, not from Mr. Rangel, and not from Jerrold Nadler (our new Representative). It was reported in the news that redistricting was taking place, but without enough detail for any of us to realize that we were affected.
Since 2008, one of the sorest complaints of the American electorate is that our participation in government is being taken for granted by elected officials. How do you suppose my neighbors and I feel about learning that our representation in Congress was changed without our being notified?
Sincerely,
David Branner
